History of Rishikesh

More than 15 thousand years ago, Adiyogi Vishnu, the first yogi, arrived in this part of the mystical Himalayas. He spread the mystical knowledge of yoga among humanity to enrich the human consciousness. One of his followers, Agastya Muni, spread the knowledge to yogis in the Himalayas and many thousands of Indians in other parts of India. Today, Rishikesh, located on the Ganges, is a sacred place for Hindus.

The spot derives its name from the Rishi (guru) with their long hair (Kesh) that meditate in the forests where they are looking for contact with the universe. But it is also the second name of the Hindu god Vishnu (also called Hrishkesh) and means ‘ control of your thoughts and emotions ‘.

Soothing Energy

Due to the onset of yoga in Rishikesh, the place has gained a great appeal to many yoga practitioners who want to visit the place to experience the soothing energy so that they can eventually find their inner peace. I also experienced the same when I first arrived in 1994. Rishikesh was not a big city at that time, but a simple village with huts where you could encounter the rishis everywhere

Thanks to the presence of the calming and spiritual energy of the place, I offer the yoga teacher training and the yoga Wellness retreat. I opted for a resort that is located about ten kilometers outside the city so that participants can relax more by the presence of the surrounding nature. The energy of the guru that used to be here meditate you can still feel while the ashram is located just outside the center. Let me guide you during this unique traditional yoga trip.
